The National Archives Cinema of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia is hosting a retrospective of Gela Kandelaki's films to mark his anniversary. The four-day program offers the audience an insight into the artistic career of the director, producer, and actor.
The event opened on May 28 with the feature film 'Misfortune, A Human Comedy'. On May 29, at 19:00, the film 'There Once Was a Singing Blackbird', starring Gela Kandelaki in the leading role, will be screened.
May 30 will be dedicated to documentary films. At 16:00, the cinema will show 'Today', 'A Long Hum', 'Football Without a Ball', and 'Exhibition of Children's Drawings'. Later, at 18:00, another documentary, '0.047% of Land', will be screened.
On May 31, the audience will see animated films produced by Gela Kandelaki. At 16:00, the cinema will show films by Dato Takaishvili ('The Raven', 'The Plague', and 'Expectation'). At 18:00, works by Dato Sikharulidze ('Ephemera' and 'The Life and Citizenship of Iakob Gogebashvili') will be screened.
The retrospective was opened by Teona Iashvili, General Director of the National Archives of Georgia, and artist Mariam Kandelaki, the daughter of Gela Kandelaki. The event was attended by the First lady of Georgia Tamar Bagrationi, Metropolitan Daniel, prominent figures of Georgian cinema and theater, and representatives from the Georgian National Film Center and the 'Georgian Film' studio, along with other invited guests.
Attendance at the film screenings is free.
